Two suspects have been arrested in connection with a reported shooting on the west side of Pine Bluff on Dec. 8.

Damante Avery, 19, and Robert Neal, 19, reportedly shot Gordon Davis at a car wash at Miramar and Bay Streets while attempting to rob him, Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer said during a court hearing Tuesday for Avery and Neal.

Detective Steve Rucker reported that Davis tried to run and was shot in the leg, with a second bullet going through the headrest of the car Davis was driving.

Kizer said Davis went to a gas station across the street where he called police.

When Neal was arrested, he reportedly admitted his involvement and said Avery was the person who shot Davis.

Kizer said Neal is currently on probation while Avery had no prior convictions or pending charges.

At Kizerís request, Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $100,000 bond for both Avery and Neal, ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge Neal with aggravated robbery and Avery with aggravated robbery and first-degree battery.

The judge also ordered Neal and Avery to have no contact with Davis until the case is settled and to come back to court Feb. 21.

Neal and Avery both said they would hire their own attorneys.
