No one was injured in a house fire Wednesday evening in east Pine Bluff.

Firefighters were dispatched to 503 E. 24th Ave. at 4:59 p.m., said Battalion Chief Scott Moore with the Pine Bluff Fire and Emergency Services Department.

Three people were at the residence when the fire started and told the dispatcher the fire appeared to be coming from a closet, Moore said. The cause of the fire was still under investigation Wednesday evening.

At the scene, white smoke poured from the windows and doors and from the area where the roof meets the walls. Moore said the fire appeared to have spread to insulation in the attic and walls, and firefighters were tearing off pieces of siding and spraying water into the attic to make sure the fire was completely extinguished.

Moore said the inside of the house sustained heavy smoke damage. There was moderate fire damage to northern end of the house on the interior.
