LITTLE ROCK — State Court of Appeals Judge Jo Hart announced plans Monday to run for the Arkansas Supreme Court.

Hart, who is beginning her 14th year on the appeals court, said she submitted more than 15,000 signatures to the secretary of state’s office to place her name on the ballot for the May 22 election.

She is seeking the Supreme Court seat being vacated by Justice Jim Gunter, who announced his retirement last year.

Hart lives in Mountain View with her husband of 38 years, Brock Hart.

Judges in Arkansas run in nonpartisan elections.
