LITTLE ROCK Federal officials announced Tuesday the renewal of $4.4 million in funding to 28 homeless programs in Arkansas. The programs are funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The Continuum of Care grants are to help provide permanent housing and services such as job training, health care, mental health counseling, substance abuse treatment and child care to homeless individuals and families across the state in 2012, HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan said in a release. The grants were awarded competitively to local programs to serve their clients.

The programs awarded, and funding amounts include:

Southeast Arkansas

City of Pine Bluff Supportive Housing Program, $237,426.

Transitional Housing for Victims of Domestic Violence, $31,307.

Eastern Arkansas

Shelter Plus Care, $31,824.

Fayetteville:

Park Lake Projects, $93,485.

Seven Hills Renewal 2011, $20,412.

Shelter + Care Tenant Rental Assistance, $96,912.
