Annie Oliver Rice of Pine Bluff departed this life peacefully on Sunday, August 26, 2012, while surrounded by her family at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. She was born in Fairfield, Ark. to Willie L. and Flora Oliver. Her early education was at Fairfield, Ark. and after moving to Pine Bluff, she attended Merrill High School and completed her education in the Pine Bluff School District.

Annie Oliver Rice of Pine Bluff departed this life peacefully on Sunday, August 26, 2012, while surrounded by her family at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. She was born in Fairfield, Ark. to Willie L. and Flora Oliver. Her early education was at Fairfield, Ark. and after moving to Pine Bluff, she attended Merrill High School and completed her education in the Pine Bluff School District.

She was married to Amos Rice for 49 years and to this union, eight sons and three daughters were born. She was employed by the Pine Bluff school district and retired after 31 years of service. She was a faithful member of New Star Missionary Church for 53 years . She is preceded in death by her husband, Amos Rice; sons, Amos Rice Jr., Levi A. Rice and Louis E. Rice; brother, Joe L. Oliver; and sisters, Flora Oliver Rogers, and Bertha Oliver Jones.

Survivors include five sons, Lee W. Rice and his wife Sophronia of Pine Bluff; David E. Rice of Jacksonville, Ark.; Larry D. Rice and his wife Renita of Pine Bluff; Frederick C. Rice of Upland, Calif.; and Steven L. Rice of Dallas, Texas; three daughters, Betty Rice Jones of Mesquite, Texas; Ruby Rice Thompson and her husband Samuel of Arlington, Texas; and Arlene Rice Woody and her husband James of Pine Bluff; daughters-in-law, Celetha Rice of Atlanta, Ga. and Sandra W. Rice Cunning of Pine Bluff; and one step-daughter, Ruthie Rice McBride and her husband James of Pine Bluff; twenty-one grandchildren; eighteen greatgrand children; and one great-great grandchild; and step-mother, Earnestine Wright of Pine Bluff. Brothers, William J. Oliver and his wife Dorothy of Pine Bluff; James Oliver and his wife Leonell of Monee, Ill.; Andrew Oliver of Pine Bluff; Pinkey Oliver and his wife Jacqueline of Little Rock, Ark.; and A. C. Murphy of Sacramento, Calif.; sisters, Jewel Oliver Ford of St. Louis, Mo.; Dorothy Oliver Gant of Pine Bluff; Earnestine Oliver of Tacoma, Washington; Katherine Oliver Williams and her husband Leroy of Hensley, Ark,; Essie Oliver Holmes of Pine Bluff; Sarah Oliver Cannon and her husband Ivory of Little Rock, Ark.; Selma Ware and Erma Thames of Sacramento, California; Sisters-in-law, Leola Oliver of Pine Bluff and a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, September 2, 2012 at New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 1026 S. Missouri St., Pine Bluff, Ark.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, September 3, 2012. at the New Morning Star Missionary Baptist at Pine Bluff with Rev. Donald Agee, Officiating.

Interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens by P. K. Miller Mortuary.
