EL DORADO — Mrs. Carolyn June Andrus Yaney Goad, of El Dorado, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Medical Center of South Arkansas.

EL DORADO — Mrs. Carolyn June Andrus Yaney Goad, of El Dorado, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Medical Center of South Arkansas.

She was born April 11, 1934, in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, to Renard Ferdinand and Velvya Lorene Fender Andrus.

In 1939, the family moved to Pine Bluff, Ark., where Carolyn received her elementary education in Sam Taylor and Sixth Avenue Schools. She graduated with honors from Pine Bluff High School in 1952, where she was a member of the National Honor Society, Acapella Choir, and was Advertising Editor of the school paper, The Pine Cone. She won the 1952 Freeman Journalism Award presented by The Pine Bluff Commercial.

From May 1952 to January 1953, Carolyn worked for Arkansas Power & Light Co. in Pine Bluff, then transferred to their El Dorado office after her marriage to John Raymond Yaney on February 1, 1953. She worked for Lion Oil Company in the Personnel Department from May 1953, until July 1954, when she began to raise her family. She worked part-time for Lion until going back full time in March 1969, and continued until May 1, 1998, when she retired as Division Order Supervisor.

Carolyn joined Second Baptist Church (now Cross Life Church) in July 1953, where she served as a teacher and on various committees over the years. At the time of death, she was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and a past member of the El Dorado Desk & Derrick Club. She was a volunteer worker at Interfaith Health Clinic and Liberty Ministries Center.

She was predeceased by her parents, her first husband, John R. Yaney, and twin sons, Harry and Larry Yaney.

Survivors include her husband, James E. “Jimmy” Goad; a daughter, Mona White and husband Ron of Little Rock; a son, Dr. Steven Yaney and wife Pam of Fort Smith; four grandchildren, Jake White and wife Kara, and Miranda White of Little Rock; David Yaney of Las Vegas, Nev.; and Kristen Yaney of Seattle, Wash.; two great-grandchildren, Kaycee and Alyson White of Little Rock; stepdaughters, Suanne Elliott and husband Rusty of Plano, Texas and Janette Hilyard and husband Tommy of Prosper, Texas; four step-granchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; her sister Martha McCollum of Tyler, Texas; two nephews, Mark McCollum and Paul McCollum and their families, all of Texas.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2013, at Young’s.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Young’s Chapel with Rev. Faron Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.

Serving as pallbearers will be the Townhouse Coffee Club.
