Emmer Jean Rushing Lawrence, 69, of Pine Bluff, died Friday, December 23, 2011, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.

Emmer Jean Rushing Lawrence, 69, of Pine Bluff, died Friday, December 23, 2011, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Lawrence was born May 28, 1942, in Sherrill, Ark., to the late A. B. Rushing and Allie Bell Garner Rushing. She was reared and received her education in Sherrill and Watson Chapel.

Emmer Jean Rushing married Billy Gene Lawrence on March 13, 1961, in Pine Bluff.

Mrs. Lawrence was a seamstress and worked for several different companies including Hammond Bag Company.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Billy Gene Lawrence; two daughters, Rita Gail (John) Carter of Portland, Tenn., and Darlene (Bill) McArthur of Conway; a son, William Bryan (Elizabeth) Lawrence of Sulphur Springs; eight grandchildren, Chris Chadick, Andrea (Brandon) Wood, Misty Chadick, Drew Worthen, Bret Chadick, Destiny Lawrence, Megan Lawrence, and Ryan “Bubba” Lawrence; four great-grandchildren, Brayden Turner, Andrew Wood, Alyssa Smith, and Peyton Wood; five brothers, A. B. (Buddy) Rushing, Jr. of Sulphur Springs, J. T. Rushing of Pine Bluff, Havis Rushing of White Hall, Gary Lynn Rushing of Pine Bluff, and Michael Wayne Rushing of Texarkana; three sisters, Shirley Beatty of Sulphur Springs, Charlotte Best of White Hall, and Patricia Rushing of Dallas, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Roger Dale Rushing, and a sister, Christine Wiley.

The family will receive friends on Monday, December 26, 2011, from 6-8 p.m., at Robinson’s.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at 1:30 p.m., in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverends Donnie Blackerby and Sammy Alverson officiating. Interement will follow at Phillips Cemetery.

The family will be at the home of Gary Rushing, 7215 Miles Drive, Pine Bluff, Arkansas 71603.
