GREENVILLE, MISS. — Harry “Lee” Woodyard, Jr., 66, of Greenville, Miss., died Christmas Day, Sunday, December 25, 2011 in Greenwood, Miss.
He was born January 12, 1945 in Meridian, Miss., son of Harry and Loraine Butler Woodyard.
Lee was raised in Pine Bluff, Ark., graduating from Watson Chapel High School. He attended the University of Arkansas at Monticello.
Mr. Woodyard worked for several years at the Pine Bluff Arsenal. He worked for the Defense Logistics Agency, where he served for eight years as Chief of Command in Frankfurt, Germany. Mr. Woodyard retired after 32 years. After his retirement, Lee was currently in his 11th year as the Director of the Procurement Technical Assistance Center in Greenville, Miss.
He was an avid animal lover. Lee was an active advocate for the Animal Welfare League and Animal Welfare Relief Fund.
Lee was preceded in death by his son, Harry Leslie Woodyard, III; parents; and nephew, Mitchell Lee Holt. Mitchell Lee Holt got his middle name from Lee Woodyard.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 42 years, Elizabeth Branch Woodyard, whom he married September 12, 1969 in Pine Bluff; sister, Joye Howard and her husband, Randy, of Hot Springs, Ark. and nephew, Todd Eric Holt of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday evening at Robinson’s.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, December 29, 2011 in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son in Pine Bluff with Rev. James Watson officiating. Burial will be private.
Active pallbearers will be Robert Kavanaugh, Eddie Branch, Randy Howard, Carl Woodyard, Jason Warren and Bill Birge. The honorary pallbearer will be Todd Holt.
