The youngest child of Amy and Tommie Hankins, Holland was reared and received his early education in Glendale, graduating from Pine Bluff High School, where he played on the Zebra football team. He married his first wife, Mattie Jean Hankins, shortly after high school and had three sons; Dale, Michael and Keith.

Following his graduation from Pine Bluff High School, Mr. Hankins studied chemical engineering at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. He joined Sinclair Coppers as a chemical engineer and worked for them many years before moving to Clinton, Iowa to work at Chemplex. While at Chemplex, he became an environmental engineer.

After Jean’s passing, Mr. Hankins met and married a new soul mate, Jane Ashcraft Cash. He was a loving father figure to her children Lou Ann, Tony, Don, Paul. Mr. Hankins’ major life mission was his deep and profound Christian faith. He was a deacon in the Calvary Baptist Church in Clinton, Iowa. He was a deacon, sang in the choir and was a loyal member of the Watson Chapel Baptist Church.

Following his retirement from Chemplex, Mr. Hankins moved back to Arkansas and became a “shade tree” mechanic, developing a wide circle of loyal customers. He also was a strong supporter of the Master Gardner program of the Jefferson County Cooperative.

Mr. Hankins was preceded in death by his first wife, Mattie Jean Hankins; two sons, Michael and Keith Hankins; step-daughter, Lou Ann Wygal; his parents; two brothers, Col. Curtis Hankins and Joe Hankins; and a sister, LaRue Wright.

Survivors include his wife, Jane Ashcraft Cash of Pine Bluff; son, Dale Hankins of Iowa City, Iowa; three step-sons, Tony Cash of Pine Bluff, Don Cash of Little Rock and Paul Cash of Heber Springs; brother, Phil Hankins of North Little Rock; two grandchildren, Brandon Hankins and Caroline Cummings; seven step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, February 8, 2013 at Watson Chapel Baptist Church with Reverend Todd Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Rowell Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors.

The family requests that all donations and memorials be given to the Watson Chapel Baptist Church, 5514 Pinnacle Lane, Pine Bluff, Arkansas 71603.
