James Bryant “J.B.” Middlebrooks, 86, of Pine Bluff, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2013 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
Born August 16, 1926, in Pine Bluff, he was a son of the late James Bryant and Callie Cunningham Middlebrooks. He was reared and received his education in Pine Bluff and Lincoln County attending schools at Griffith Springs and Glendale.
He enlisted in the United States Army, serving during World War II.
In 1941, he married Florence Bennett; together they had two children and shared many wonderful times together over the years. He was a loving family man and a dedicated husband; his loves were his wife, his children and his grandchildren.
He was employed by Myers Bakery for several years. He then took on his own truck route and became and independent distributor of baked goods and prepared snacks to local convenience stores and groceries.
He was a lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He could always be found enjoying his gardening or working on his next woodworking project.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Alton Middlebrooks and his sister, Sybil Holloway.
He is survived by his wife of over seventy years, Florence Middlebrooks, of Pine Bluff; his son, James E. Middlebrooks and Alice Ann, of Satellite Beach, Fla.; his daughter, Sandra Gober and Danny Williams, of Pine Bluff; three grandchildren, Allison Brown and Steven, of Pine Bluff, Christi Thews, of Pine Bluff, and Eulan Middlebrooks and Colleen, of Satellite Beach, Fla.; six great-grandchildren, Jordan, Cameron, Kendall, Holdyn, Ava and Jake; his three sisters, Mildred Chastain, Lilly Mae Lawson and Margaret Ann Middlebrooks, all of Monticello; and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 19, 2013, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend James Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Cypress Memorial Gardens.
