MCGEHEE J.T. Haynes, 90, of McGehee, died Sunday, November 13, 2011, at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born August 11, 1921, in Gould to Turner Haynes and Emma Edner Washington. J.T. was preceded in death by his wife, Elouise Lois Haynes.

MCGEHEE J.T. Haynes, 90, of McGehee, died Sunday, November 13, 2011, at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born August 11, 1921, in Gould to Turner Haynes and Emma Edner Washington. J.T. was preceded in death by his wife, Elouise Lois Haynes.

He is survived by a son, Chester Rathey of McGehee, Ark.; a daughter, Harriett Wisemon of White Hall, Ark.; four grandchildren, Rolanda Haynes, Chester Rathey Jr., Kimberly Wisemon, Vanessa Wisemon and eight great grandchildren.

J.T. retired from Entergy, formerly AP&L after 35 years of service. J.T. was a World War II Veteran and was Desha County NAACP Branch President who established the NAACP Charter for Desha County in 1968.

Visitation will be held at Willis Funeral Home, 101 Park Street in McGehee, Ark. from 6-8 p.m. Friday, November 18, 2011. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 19, 2011, at Willis Funeral Home.
