Leroy W. Koschel, 71, of Pine Bluff, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013.

Born May 31, 1941, in New Orleans, La., he was the only child of the late August Woerner and Hilda Anderson Koschel. He was reared and received his early education in New Orleans, graduating from Warren Easton High School. He also attended and graduated from Tulane University, earning his degree in Chemical Engineering.

Mr. Koschel enlisted in the United States Army, serving during Vietnam. Upon his honorable discharge, he had achieved the rank of First Lieutenant.

He worked for International Paper for almost forty years as an Engineer, retiring in 2002. He was a dedicated family man; his free time was spent with his children and family.

He was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he served as Elder. He was also a member of International Paper Supervisors Club and International Paper Quarter Century Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

His survivors include his wife, Brynn Koschel, whom he married in 1966; his children, Brynn K. Lonnquist (Kevin), of Fort Worth, Texas, Dr. Lee W. Koschel (Julie), of Baton Rouge, La., and Karyn K. Francis (Ryan), of Fayetteville, Ark.; and his grandchildren, Kathleen & Kiley Lonnquist, Arden & Logan Koschel, and Samuel & Kate Ryan Francis.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 31, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Reverend Dean Clausing officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends Thursday 6-8 p.m. at Robinsons.
