Mr. Darchie Haltiwanger slept away, Monday, March 26, 2012 at the home of his daughter, in Pine Bluff. Darchie was born to the late Cleophus and Berdie Haltiwanger on August 17, 1939, in Grant County, Ark. He was baptized at an early age. He was a giver to many charities and a very dependable man to his family and friends.

Mr. Darchie Haltiwanger slept away, Monday, March 26, 2012 at the home of his daughter, in Pine Bluff. Darchie was born to the late Cleophus and Berdie Haltiwanger on August 17, 1939, in Grant County, Ark. He was baptized at an early age. He was a giver to many charities and a very dependable man to his family and friends.

He worked as a machine operator for Union Pacific Railroad. He retired in June of 2001, after 31 years of service. He was a strong believer in working for what you want and helping others in need.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Donnie Ray Haltiwanger, Herbert Lee Haltiwanger, and Cleo Haltiwanger; his twin sister, Artie Lee “Kitty” Haltiwanger, and one grandson, Corey Sykes. He is survived by five daughters, Deronda (Danny) Massey, Audrey (Michael) Sykes, Marsha York, Yolanda (James) Pitts, and Janice Ellison; two sons, Rodney (Erika) Compton, Sr., and Barry Strickland; one brother, Roy Lee Haltiwanger (Carrie); two sisters, Clotie Litzsey and Dorothy Stoudamire; thirteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Public viewing will take place from 5-7 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2012, at Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 31, 2012, at Bethany Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1923 Olive St, Pine Bluff, Ark., with Pastor Renice L. Davis providing the eulogy. Burial will be at St. Paul Cemetery on Princeton Pike in Grant County, Ark.

The body will lie in state at the church from 9:45 a.m. until time of service.
