LAKE CHARLES, La. — James Patrick "Pat" Batchelor, age 84, passed from this life on February 26, 2012, following a brief illness. He was born in Pine Bluff, Ark.

LAKE CHARLES, La. — James Patrick “Pat” Batchelor, age 84, passed from this life on February 26, 2012, following a brief illness. He was born in Pine Bluff, Ark.

He leaves to honor his memory, his loving wife of 54 years, Eva Lois Batchelor of Lake Charles and sister, Catherine Tutt of Hot Springs Village, Ark.

Mr. Batchelor spent most of his life in El Dorado, Ark., where he entered the Navy. Following his service, he completed his degree in Petroleum engineering. He retired, District Manager, having worked 32 as an Engineer for Stanolind Oil and Gas (now British Petroleum). Following his retirement he was appointed Commissioner of Conservation and Assistant Secretary of the Department of Natural Resources, regulating the Oil and Gas Compact Commission. Mr. Batchelor returned to Lake Charles, La., to make it his retirement home.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 29, 2012 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Lake Charles. Father Keith Pellerin will officiate. Interment at a later date will be in Consolata Cemetery in Lake Charles. Visitation Wednesday will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service in the funeral home.
