James Douglas “Doug” Mooty, 79, of Pine Bluff, died Sunday, March 25, 2012.

He was born May 2, 1932 in Kingsland, son of Joe D. and Mildred Childers Mooty.

Doug was reared and received his early education in Pine Bluff, graduating from Pine Bluff High School.

After four years of service in the United States Air Force, Doug worked for the United States Postal Service for over 30 years.

He was a member of Second Baptist Church and served 50 years as a Mason, a very rare accomplishment.

Mr. Mooty was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary Katherine “Kathy” Mooty; and his parents.

Survivors include his two daughters, Terri Leonard of Pine Bluff and Cheryl Diane Mooty of North Little Rock; son, Mike Mooty of Dexter, Mo.; sister, Johnie Beason of McDonough, Ga.; two grandchildren, Jeremy Mooty of Jackson, Mo. and Danny Joe Wiley, Jr. of Pine Bluff; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Friday, March 30, 2012 in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Brother Charles Chamblee officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday evening at Robinson’s.
