YELLVILLE J.E. Cox, age 87, of Yellville, passed away Monday, May 28, 2012 at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Ark. He was born October 22, 1924 in Murfreesboro, Ark. to Willis and Vonnie Cox. He was a World War II veteran, having served his country for 29 years. He worked as a foreman for the Pine Bluff Arsenal before his retirement. He was also a member of the American Legion and VFW. He and his wife lived in Sheridan, Ark. for 38 years; moved to Omaha, Ark., then to Yellville in 2001.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine, of the home; a daughter, Christina Shelby of Yellville, Ark.; a sister, Maxine Lance of Conway, Ark.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Cox was preceded in death by a son, James Edward Cox in 1991; two brothers; and three sisters.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Jackson Cemetery near Sheridan, Ark.
