He was born March 1, 1943, in El Dorado, Ark., to Charles Ross and Ruby Mae Vance. Growing up as a young boy, his family moved all across the state. He graduated from Central High School in Helena, Ark., in 1961 and attended college at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Ark.

Mr. Vance went to work for International Paper Company in 1963 and obtained a certification in Pulp and Paper Technology in 1985. He was recognized through his completion of the Facilitator Skills Program through the I.P. Quality Management Development Program in 1991. He retired as Lab Supervisor-Tech Quality Control in 1997 and was a proud member of the Quarter Century Club.

On January 24, 1964, he married the love of his life, Mrs. Sandra Kay Frisby Vance in Pine Bluff, Ark. They were married for 48 years and shared a love and devotion for one another all of the days of their lives.

Some of his greatest joys were times shared hunting and fishing with his son, Barrett, and his Dad, playing rounds of golf with friends at Rosswood Country Club and spending time with his grandchildren.

Those who knew Randy would all agree he was an honest man of few words, with a kind heart, conservative values and a dry sense of humor. He valued hard work and was a good provider who was dedicated to the loving care of his family.

He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, where he made a public progression of faith through baptism at the age of 33.

Survivors are his wife, Sandra “Sandy” Kay Frisby Vance of Hot Springs; and his daughter, Amanda Proffitt and her husband, Glenn Proffitt of Little Rock; two grandchildren, Emily Grace and Zachary Reed Proffitt of Little Rock and one brother, Chester B. Vance of Orange Beach, Ala.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and son, Barrett Reed Vance.
