MONTICELLO — Down 30-28 at halftime, Monticello came back with a strong performance from Torry Butler and beat Little Rock McClellan 60-47 on Thursday in a boys semifinal of the Southeast Arkansas Holiday Tournament on its home court.

The scene now shifts to UAM, where all of today’s games will be held. Monticello will take on Marion at 7:30 tonight for the championship.

Butler scored 21 points, Brooks Jones had nine and Devin Jackson contributed eight for Monticello (8-2).

Marion 66, Drew Central 43

The Patriots went on a 17-0 run to start the fourth quarter after holding a 43-40 lead. Darion Barnes had 11 points for Marion.

Dominique Rhodes led Drew Central with 17 points. The Pirates will play McClellan at 5 p.m. today for third place.

In other boys games, it was: McGehee 71, Rison 26; Bastrop (La.) 68, Fordyce 52; McGehee 58, Warren 22; and Bastrop 71, Hermitage 36. No further statistics were provided.

Bastrop and McGehee will play in the consolation final at 2:30 p.m.

GIRLS

Pine Bluff 53, Earle 39

WYNNE — The Fillies (8-5) rebounded from a 58-48 loss to Greene County Tech on Wednesday and got 19 points from Ajia Richardson in a 14-point win over the Lady Bulldogs in the Mid-South Invitational.

Jalisa Smith also scored 12 points for Pine Bluff, which placed Richardson and Victoria Broady on the all-tournament team.

Pine Bluff will host Sheridan on Thursday to begin 6A-South Conference play.

Monticello 73, Stuttgart 33

MONTICELLO — The Lady Billies, on their home floor, blew out the Lady Ricebirds behind Chelsey Rhodes’ 29 points and Marquia Goffin’s 13.

Monticello was coming off a 64-14 victory against Dollarway in Wednesday’s first-round game. Now, the Lady Billies will take on McClellan for the tournament championship at 6:15 tonight at UAM.

Haley Johnson scored 10 points to lead Stuttgart.

McClellan 39, Drew Central 21

The Lady Lions averted an all-Monticello championship game behind 12 points each from Kia Cummings and Taylor Collins.

Jerica Binns scored seven points to lead the Lady Pirates (12-4), who will take on Stuttgart at 3:45 p.m. today.

McGehee 46, Dollarway 8

The Lady Owls made it to the girls consolation bracket final, where they will play the Warren/Hermitage winner at 1:15 p.m. today.
