PRESCOTT — The rematches have been set.

Tonight, Drew Central will play McGehee for the fourth time in boys and girls basketball each this season, and again, the stakes are higher.

In boys action Friday, McGehee defeated Centerpoint 72-57 in its 3A Region 4 Tournament semifinal. Zach Ellis and Marcus Miller each scored 24 points to lead the winning Owls (20-3), while Maurice Hudson added 10.

Drew Central (23-9) set up the final with a 74-64 win over Prescott in its semifinal. The Pirates had four double-digit scorers: Jerelle Binns with 22, Dilly Binns with 21, Bay Chaffin with 13 and Damarius Thomas with 10. Thomas scored all of his points in the second half.

The Owls hope to avenge their loss to the Pirates in last week’s 8-3A District championship game. McGehee won the two regular-season meetings on its way to the 8-3A Conference championship.

In girls action, Drew Central defeated Centerpoint 44-38, overcoming a 16-5 first-quarter deficit. The Lady Pirates (22-10) trailed 26-14 at halftime, but outscored the Knights 18-6 in the third quarter and 12-6 in the fourth.

Kari Milton had 15 points and Cierra Gardner scored 13 to lead the Lady Pirates.

They will play McGehee, which edged Bismarck 49-47 Friday behind Shakyla Begnaud’s 18 points and Raven Burks’ 14 — including four three-point baskets.

It was a close game throughout. McGehee trailed after one quarter 12-10, led 25-24 at haftime and was tied with Bismarck at 39 after three.

Drew Central, the 8-3A Conference champion, lost the district championship last Friday to McGehee, which has won the last two meetings, including one that went double overtime on Feb. 1.
