CROSSETT — The Drew Central girls basketball team handled Crossett with a 55-21 win on Tuesday night. Adruna Simpson led the Lady Pirates with 16 points and Jerica Binns added 11.

CROSSETT — The Drew Central girls basketball team handled Crossett with a 55-21 win on Tuesday night. Adruna Simpson led the Lady Pirates with 16 points and Jerica Binns added 11.

With a halftime score of 37-15, Drew Central was very much in control of the game. Things only got better in the second half for the Lady Pirates, as they outscored the Eagles 18-6 in the half.

The win gives the Lady Pirates a 2-0 start to their season, with a home game against Hermitage 5 p.m. Friday as their next contest.

CROSSETT — The Pirates (2-0) led the entire game, not allowing the Eagles to come within two points.

Dominique Rhodes scored 14 points and Demarius Thomas 12 for Drew Central. The Pirates hit free throws and took care of the basketball down the stretch to win, coach Larry Harris said.

Shaquille Culbreth led Crossett with 12 points.

Trinity Christian 63,

HAMBURG — Randy Whiteside scored 15 points and Josh Sanders had eight for the Huskies (0-3) in a losing effort.

Scores for Hampton at Fordyce games and Woodlawn at Hermitage games were unavailable.

JUNIOR HIGH GIRLS

Liberty Academy 23,

Ridgway Christian 22

Beth Ann Rogers’ 13-point effort was not enough for Ridgway Christian, as the Eagles girls team lost to Liberty Academy. Liberty, also the Eagles, relied on free throws down the stretch to close out Ridgway.

After Rogers’ 13 points, Rainei Davis was the second leading scorer with four points for Ridgway Christian.

It was the first game of the season for the Ridgway Christian girls junior high team. The Eagles’ next game is a trip to Little Rock to face Southwest Christian Academy for a 4:30 p.m. Monday game.
