A-State coaches ‘Ambush’ state

JONESBORO — The Arkansas State football coaching staff Monday started visiting all 215 football-playing high schools in Arkansas in a five-day recruiting blitz called the “A-State Ambush.”

It’s an unprecedented form of recruiting for a team coming off its first Sun Belt Conference championship and entering its first season under Gus Malzahn.

“Like we said when we first got here, we’re going to recruit this state like it’s never been recruited,” the coach said. “We are big believers in the players here in Arkansas and the coaches here in Arkansas, so that’s going to be the foundation of our program and we’re going to do everything in our power to recruit this state.”
