NORTH LITTLE ROCK — White Hall’s Jeremy Sprinkle and Dollarway’s Addison Grandy were honored by the Arkansas Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame as outstanding scholar-athletes in high school football.
In all, there were 46 honorees across Arkansas, each receiving a Certificate of Merit signed by Gov. Mike Beebe. Each was considered based on scholastic ability and athletic achievements as well as extracurricular activities in school and in the community.
Sprinkle and Grandy exemplified all the required characteristics for selection as outstanding scholar-athletes, according to a press release. The average grade-point average for the 46 honorees was 3.8.
Sprinkle, who signed with Arkansas in February, totaled 841 yards and six touchdowns on 45 receptions as a wide receiver this past season and 29 sacks as a defensive end the last two years. He helped White Hall win the 2011 5A-Southeast Conference championship and reach the 5A state semifinals.
Grandy, who on Friday received the Brandon Burlsworth Award, made three interceptions in helping Dollarway to the 4A semifinals last fall.
