The Zebras (2-10, 1-3 in 6A-South) scored five runs off five hits in the fifth to pull within 12-3. The Razorbacks added three runs in the bottom half to end the game via the mercy rule.

Texarkana totaled 16 hits for the game. Pine Bluff starting pitcher Larry Williams took the loss.

Dumas 5, Hamburg 3

HAMBURG — Dumas took sole possession of first place in the 8-4A Conference with a two-run victory over Hamburg.

The Bobcats (6-0, 6-0 in 8-4A) took the lead, 2-1, in the third inning with two runs and had to hold on after the Lions (5-1 in 8-4A) scored two in the bottom of the seventh. Trey Winchester worked 4 2/3 innings for the pitching victory, and Blake Downen earned the save.

Matthew Miller batted in three runs for Dumas.

Rison 11, Drew Central 1

RISON — Nick Hesley, Will Cliston and Garrett Dedman each had a hit to lead the Wildcats (3-6, 1-0 in 8-3A) past the Pirates in five innings.

Hesley also pitched all five innings for the win.

Hermitage 8, Warren 3

WARREN — The Lumberjacks (6-9) managed to end a shutout with all of their runs in the seventh inning, but the Hermits had strong sixth and seventh innings on offense in the victory.

Hermitage scored three runs each in the last two innings. Winning pitcher Collin Wilkerson struck out 11, allowed six hits and walked three. For Warren, Aaron Church threw three strikeouts and gave up six hits and four earned runs in 5 1/3 innings.

Also for Warren, Justin Hall hit a two-RBI single, Troy Sellers singled and stole a base, and Logan Adams scored a run and singled.

Hamburg will visit Warren on Monday.

SOFTBALL

Texarkana 10, Pine Bluff 0

TEXARKANA — Six unearned runs off six Pine Bluff errors in the first inning gave the Razorbacks (6-1 in 6A-South) a good start to a five-inning victory.

The Fillies (4-2, 0-2 in 6A-South) managed four hits.

Texarkana 3, Pine Bluff 1

TEXARKANA — Lorenzo Williams gave the Zebras (1-2, 1-2 in 6A-South) the first lead with an 11th-minute goal assisted by Jairo Ledesma, but the Razorbacks tied it just before halftime and added two more to pick up the conference victory.

Pine Bluff coach Richard Nekoranik named Zach O’Donahue the team’s MVP of the game because of his defensive efforts against Texarkana.

Pine Bluff will host Sheridan on Tuesday.

BENTON — Wynn Welch netted both goals to give the Lady Yellowjackets (8-5, 2-1 in 6A-South) a conference victory over the Lady Panthers.
