A late afternoon rain on Thursday washed out the first day of play of the 3rd Annual Jim Hill Wooden Bat Tournament. But the event is not all washed up.

With a shuffling of schedules and some late daylight to soak up the moisture, the tournament will begin today under forecasted clear skies.

“We should be in good shape for (today),” said Rob Cheatham after evaluating the playing surfaces at Taylor Field and Eddie Bryan Field at the Jim Hill Sports Complex at Seabrook Christian Family Center. “That was just a lot of rain at the wrong time and there wasn’t enough time for the sun to do enough.

Thursday’s scheduled 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. games have been moved to today. Tournament action will begin at 4 p.m. at both locations with Seabrook Wingstop facing Seabrook Subway at Eddie Bryan Field. Both sites will see action at 6 p.m. with Seabrook PBNB and the Pine Bluff Angels squaring off at Taylor Field and Lonoke taking on Camden at Eddie Bryan. Hamburg and Nashville will follow at Eddie Bryan with Camden-16 and PBNB-16 playing at 8 p.m. at Taylor.

To accommodate pool play and to ensure all teams get equal games, there will be a late game will be at Taylor Field tonight at 10 with Seabrook Wingstop playing PBNB-16.

The event will also continue as scheduled with a two-hour time limit on games and no pitching limitations.

Saturday’s schedule will resume as originally scheduled with action taking full swing at 10 a.m. at both locations.
