EL DORADO — Woodlawn won the District 7-2A East championship in walk-off fashion on Monday with a 4-3 win over Parkers Chapel.

Woodlawn had a 3-1 lead going into the top of the seventh before giving up two unearned runs to tie the game.

Trey Hankins led off the bottom of the seventh inning for Woodlawn (26-4) with walk, and then Dillon Miller was intentional walked two batters later. Gavin Johnston followed with a single to left field to score Hankins for the win.

Johnston got the win as he pitched two innings of relief and gave up two unearned runs on one hit, walked two and struck out four. Hankins started and went five innings and gave up a run on three hits, walked three and struck out nine batters.

Miller went 2 for 3 for Woodlawn at the plate.

Woodlawn plays at noon on Friday in Gurdon against Spring Hills in the 2A-South region game.

At Jordan Stadium, rain halted this 6A-South match after just one half of play.

Jairo Ledesma scored the only goal, his eighth of the season. Cedric Walls made four saves for Pine Bluff.

SOFTBALL

Pine Bluff’s doubleheader at Sheridan was postponed due to rain on Monday.

Sheridan had a 5-0 lead in the first game in the second inning.

No make-up date has been determined, and may not be made up if the games do not affect the 6A-South Conference standings.
