TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Arkansas-Pine Bluff was held to two hits against Alabama and the Crimson Tide scored on 13 hits in a 14-0 win Friday.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Arkansas-Pine Bluff was held to two hits against Alabama and the Crimson Tide scored on 13 hits in a 14-0 win Friday.

UAPB (0-5) held Alabama scoreless in the first two innings, but the Crimson Tide got on the board with two runs in the third inning.

Alabama scored one run in the fourth inning and were held scoreless in the fifth and sixth before exploding for 11 runs combined in the seventh and eighth. The Crimson Tide scored three runs in the seventh and eight runs in the eighth.

UAPB’s Jordan Sechler started his second game of the year and took the loss. He did not give up a walk in the seven innings he pitched while giving up six runs on eight hits and striking out four batters. Three of the six runs Sechler gave up were unearned.

Leo Fuentes pitched one-third of an inning for UAPB and gave up six runs on three hits and walked three batters. Elliot Jackson pitched the final two-thirds of an inning and gave up two runs on two hits and struck out one batter.

Taylor Guilbeau pitched up the win for Alabama and went six innings. He gave up just two hits, walked four batters and struck out four.

At the plate for the Crimson Tide, Kenny Roberts and Ben Moore each had three RBIs.

Jacob Whitney, Christian Weeber and Cody DeMara had UAPB’s hits. Weeber drew two walks and Tyler Hill reached base three times, all on walks.

UAPB and Alabama play again at 2:05 p.m. today. Pine Bluff native Michael Newby gets the start for UAPB.
