Tommy Barnes Golf Tournament set for May 11

MONTICELLO — The annual fundraising golf tournament for Arkansas-Monticello football will be held at Monticello Country Club on May 11.

The tournament has a new name for this year, the Tommy Barnes Golf Tournament. Barnes, UAM’s all-time winningest football coach, died in March after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

The four-man scramble event is $300 per team, which includes greens fees and lunch.

Silent auction items will be available. Also, there will be door prizes handed out as well as awards for winners of the closest-to-the-pin and hole-in-one challenges.

Head football coach Hud Jackson is offering hole sponsorships for $150. To become a sponsor or to register for the tournament, contact Jackson at 870-460-1701 or email him at
