Tonight, Arkansas-Pine Bluff will open its two-game run in the Don Haskins Sun Bowl Invitational in El Paso, Texas, against Jacksonville State at 9 p.m.

Both teams have struggled so far this season, but Jacksonville State (4-8) will go for two straight wins tonight. The Gamecocks, coached by former Southern Mississippi and Mississippi Valley State head man James Green, also are 2-0 against SWAC teams, having beaten Alabama State 78-65 and Southern 55-50.

UAPB (1-9) hopes a one-week break will have helped after taking a 101-53 beating at Cincinnati, a team Jacksonville State lost to 73-59 in November. Thursday night, UAPB will play either UTEP or Colorado State in the tournament, named after the late UTEP head coach.
