Five of six incumbents filed for re-election without drawing an opponent and an open position drew only one candidate. Filing by Friday's deadline were incumbents Andy Lunsford, 4 Colony Cove, Ward 1, Position 1; Ken Smith, 513 Dean St., Ward 1, Position 2; Scott Ray, 205 Grizzly Bear, Ward 2, Position 1; David Beck, 904 Michael Ann, Ward 3, Position 1; and Joel Foster, 509 White Hall Ave., Ward 3, Position 2.

Ed May, senior council member, did not seek re-election. Dean Dancer of 1300 Lakeview Drive, a member of the White Hall School Board, filed for the Ward 2, Position 2, seat now held by May.

Mayor Noel Foster and Ellen Welch, city clerk-treasurer, have two years remaining on four-year terms.
