The White Hall Planning Commission, meeting in a regular session on Monday, approved the following two items:

Rezoning of 1603 Siebs Avenue from R-1 single family residential to R-1X residential single family mixed housing district. The R-1 zone allows single family dwellings only and the R-1X zone allows both single family dwellings and double-wide manufactured housing. The applicant, Samantha Goman, owns two acres that currently contains a sub-standard single family home. She wanted to remove the house and move a double-wide manufactured home onto the site. No one was present at the meeting to speak against the request.

Amending the zoning code to allow churches and religious educational buildings as permitted uses in the C-2 general commercial zone and as conditional uses in the c-1 neighborhood commercial zone. The commission determined that churches should be permitted in the C-2 zone since commercial uses that operated longer hours and were more intense uses than a church were permitted uses in the C-2 zone. The commission also determined that because of the limited commercial uses in the C-1 zone, churches should be conditional uses in the C-1 zone and obtain commission approval prior to locating in the zone.
