Two cars collided in the 600 block of West Holland, Sgt. Sandy Castleberry said.

The officer quoted Donna Johnson Lee of 121 Farah Drive, driver of an eastbound 2000 Toyota Avalon, as saying she had stopped in traffic as she approached Dollarway Road when her car was struck from the rear by a 2001 Chevrolet Camaro driven by Keaton T. Howard of 201 Reynolds Ave.

Howard was quoted as saying he could not brake quickly enough because of the wet roadway.

Sept. 1

Melanie Renee Lunsford, 40, of 111 Dogwood Ave., told Patrolman Brian Hornsby that her 28-year-old boyfriend assaulted her after both had been drinking and were involved in a domestic dispute, according to a police report.

Hornsby’s report quoted Lunsford as saying she went to Jefferson Regional Medical Center for treatment of multiple injuries, then was released.

On Sept. 4 she notified the White Hall Police Department that she did not wish to pursue third-degree domestic battery charges against her alleged attacker, Detective Sgt. Mark Bradley said.

Sept. 4

Marquis Smith, 32, of 1905 E. 10th Ave., Pine Bluff, was arrested on a shoplifting charge after Scott Ray, owner of Sandy Acres Grocery and Market, 9225 U.S. 270, accused him of taking three items of merchandise while employed by the convenience store, Patrolman Tommy Kelly said.

The thefts were recorded by a video surveillance camera, Kelly’s report indicated.

Officers determined that Smith, who was jailed at the Jefferson County W.C. “Dub” Brassell Adult Detention Center, was wanted on an alias bench warrant from Pine Bluff and three additional warrants from Sherwood and Pine Bluff.

Sept. 8

Amber Blasengame of 307 Natural Drive was quoted by Patrolman Celena Harbison as saying her 2011 Dodge Charger was damaged by a hit and run driver while parked at Dollar General, 8605 Dollarway Road.

Blasengame said the left door, hood and left front fender of the Charger were damaged.

Sept. 10

Jeremy Daniel Funderburg, 22, of 4401 Providence Road, Pine Bluff, was jailed at W.C. “Dub” Brassell Adult Detention Center on charges of third offense driving while under the influence of intoxicants and leaving the scene of an accident, Sgt. Sandy Castleberry said.

The officer said Funderburg initially hit a vehicle with his car in the drive-through lane at Taco Bell, 8011 Sheridan Road, left the business and drove to two other sites before being arrested on the parking lot of McDonald’s, 8012 Sheridan.
