Stuttgart will be there as well, as many might not have predicted.


Following another stunning victory by the Ricebirds in the tournament, conference champion Dollarway took care of its own business Thursday night with a 64-41 victory over host Marianna. Dollarway and Stuttgart will meet at 7:30 p.m. Saturday for the district championship.


Kabion Ento scored 19 points and Joshua Liddell had 15 for the Cardinals (15-3), who led 40-22 at halftime. The Cards converted 23 of 52 field-goal attempts and 14 of 26 free throws, and scored 20 points off 25 Trojans turnovers.


Marquis Cooper had 10 points to lead the Trojans, who’ll take the fourth seed from the 2-4A into next week’s 4A East Region playoffs at Clinton.


Stuttgart 65, Lonoke 61


MARIANNA — Stuttgart (13-12) has pulled off another upset in the 2-4A tournament, beating No. 2-seed Lonoke two days after ending No. 3-seed Heber Springs’ season.


Alexus Hobbs was the star of the Ricebirds’ latest victory, scoring 26 points. Alante Stewart added 13.


It was a close game throughout, as Stuttgart led 12-9 after one quarter, 28-25 at halftime and 46-41 after three.


The Ricebirds are now 3-0 in the district tournament. The loss moves the Jackrabbits into the third seed for the East Region playoffs.


Gospel Light 65, Ridgway Christian 35


MAGNOLIA — Gospel Light proved too much for Ridgway Christian as the Arkansas Association for Christian Schools state tournament got under way Thursday at Columbia Christian.


Ezra Tole had 12 points to lead the Eagles, who finished the season 6-12.


GIRLS


McGehee 75, Drew Central 48


MONTICELLO — Shakyla Begnaud finished with 37 points, scoring nearly half of McGehee’s points in an 8-3A District semifinal win over host Drew Central.


Begnaud made 9 of 11 free throws.


Also for McGehee (13-7), Taia Brown had 16 points and Niesha Henry added 12.


For Drew Central (11-12), Allison Eubanks had 14 points and Cierra Gardner scored 13.


McGehee will take on Fordyce at 6:20 tonight for the championship.


Lonoke 62, Stuttgart 38


MARIANNA — Sixth-seeded Stuttgart settles for the fourth seed going into the 4A East Region tourney after second-seeded Lonoke (21-6) easily handled the Lady Ricebirds (13-12).


Tiffany Gipson totaled 11 points and Jayda Williams had nine for Stuttgart.


Lonoke will take on Heber Springs on Saturday for the district title.



Ridgway goes 1-1 in state


MAGNOLIA — Ridgway Christian won its first-round game of the AACS state tournament, 33-29 over the Arkansas School for the Deaf, but lost in the next round to Life Way Christian 44-24.


No further statistics were reported.


JUNIOR HIGH BOYS


Sylvan Hills 32, Watson Chapel 26


SHERIDAN — Sylvan Hills won the River City Conference championship Thursday night after winning a defensive battle over Watson Chapel (16-6) in the tournament final.


Simeon Blair led Watson Chapel with 11 points.


Watson Chapel also played for the eighth-grade RCC title, but lost to Maumelle 34-32 in overtime. Ja’Kobi Jackson led Watson Chapel with 13 points.


The eighth-grade Wildcats finished 10-4.


JUNIOR HIGH GIRLS


Monticello 44, Star City 42 (OT)


HAMBURG — The Lady Billies ended the Lady Dogs’ shot at an undefeated season and won the 8-4A District Tournament in the process Wednesday.


Monticello outscored Star City 6-4 in overtime after an odd first four periods that saw the Lady Billies go scoreless in the second and fourth quarters.


Monticello led 17-15 after one quarter, Star City held a 19-17 halftime lead before the Lady Billies took a 38-36 lead into the fourth.


Sara Linsy scored 26 points to lead Star City, which won the conference championship and was going for a 19-0 season.
