BENTON — Two big runs by Benton kept the Sheridan boys from improving to 3-0 in the 7A/6A-South Conference on Friday night.


A 20-0 first-half run and a 16-0 second-half run were more than enough to see the Panthers to a 54-31 win at Benton Arena.


After falling behind 6-2, Benton rattled off 20 straight points before Sheridan scored the half’s final four.


The 16-0 run came after Griffin Smith hit a three-pointer to pull Sheridan with 13 (28-15).


Sophomore Cason Maertens led Benton with 16 points and Josh Bowling added 13.


Seniors Dylan Morris and Austen Theiss scored just six points apiece for Sheridan (8-9, 2-1).

BENTON — The Lady Jackets dropped their second straight 7A/6A-South Conference game on Friday night at Benton Arena.


Benton (11-2, 3-0) used an 18-2 first-half burst to open up a 28-10 halftime lead.


Sheridan (7-6, 1-2) received eight points from Kadesha Cooper.


Braylee Landreth scored a game-high 20 points for the Lady Panthers, while Braxton Chumley chipped in with 10.
