WACO, Texas — For the second straight day, a big inning doomed the Pine Bluff Western Little League team, as North Boulder (Colorado) scored six runs in the top of the fourth inning en route to an 8-3 win on Saturday at the 11- and 12-year-old Southwest Regional.

WACO, Texas — For the second straight day, a big inning doomed the Pine Bluff Western Little League team, as North Boulder (Colorado) scored six runs in the top of the fourth inning en route to an 8-3 win on Saturday at the 11- and 12-year-old Southwest Regional.


Colorado scored six runs in the top of the fourth inning thanks to three errors by Western. They added two more runs in the fifth thanks to a two-run home run by Shane Stoffer for an 8-0 lead.


Western scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth to narrow the deficit.


With two outs, Will Dixon reached on a walk and moved to second on a single by Austin Weatherford.


Tyler Brown followed with a double to center field to plate Dixon and put Western on the board for the first time in the game.


Western got within six after Weatherford scored to make it 8-2. Randy Little plated Brown on an infield single and it cut the deficit to 8-3.


Brown finished the game 1 for 3 with a run scored and two RBIs. Little was 2 for 2 with an RBI. Tink Hence, Andrew Crossett, and Weatherford had a hit each for Western.


Weatherford pitched 4 1/3 innings and allowed seven runs (two earned) on five hits with three walks and five strikeouts. Little pitched 1/3 of an inning and gave up one earned run on two hits.


Western will finish the pool play on Monday night when they face Biloxi, Mississippi, at 8.
