The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Vesper Choir will present its spring concert at 6 p.m. Friday, April 29, in the J.M. Ross auditorium of the Hathaway-Howard Fine Arts building.

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Vesper Choir will present its spring concert at 6 p.m. Friday, April 29, in the J.M. Ross auditorium of the Hathaway-Howard Fine Arts building.


The choir will present music from the "Chichester Psalms" by Leonard Bernstein, featuring Andee Book, voice instructor and assistant choir director, as countertenor soloist. The ensemble performed the piece in Hebrew with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra in three concerts in February.


The concert will also feature compositions by Randall Thompson, John Chorbajian, Roland Carter, Moses Hogan, George Gershwin and other composers. Several of Book’s voice students will also perform.


Directed by Michael J. Bates, the Vesper Choir recently returned from its annual spring tour and performed in Florissant, Missouri, Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio, Battle Creek, Michigan, and Washington, D.C. The guest director for the concert will be Jerron Liddell.
