Communities in Schools in Jefferson County is seeking volunteers to help in the "Lights on After Dark" program at the Jack Robey Junior High School. Volunteers are needed to tutor and assist with scheduled activities from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Monday and Wednesday. Any business, organization, or individual interested in helping is asked to call 870-536-4762.

Girl Scouts — Diamonds of Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas is currently seeking volunteers who care about the lives of people in their community. Prospective volunteers are challenged to replace one television show a month with sharing their skills or hobbies with girls ages 5 to 17. The rewards will be priceless. Hospice Home Care is looking for volunteers to help continue its mission to provide companionship for its hospice patients. Volunteers should be at least 10 years of age and older and be able to give a few hours a week. Contact Sheena Goal at 870-540-0727.

HOSTS (Help One Student to Succeed) is seeking mentors to work with students in math and reading in the Pine Bluff School District. Volunteers may select the day, time and location that is the most convenient for them. Greenville, Broadmoor, 34th Avenue all have HOSTS programs at their schools. St. Mark United Methodist Church and Healing Place Ministries are in need of volunteers for its new "Family Life Skills Workshops." The major emphasis of this program is to provide an opportunity for parents and their children to learn life skills in a community setting, to participate in activities to reinforce their learning, and to become more resilient and ready to meet challenges that are common place during this new millennium.
