The first meeting of the 2014-2015 Sesame Club was held recently at the Pine Bluff Country Club.


President Bonnie McClure called the meeting to order and led the membership in the reading of the Collect. After the business meeting, she introduced Cheryl Fox who presented the program on this year’s study, "Successful Women Entrepreneurs."


Fox’s entrepreneurs in the food and home sector included Doris Christopher, founder of The Pampered Chef, who started with a $3,000 investment and sold her business for $7 million. Debbie Fields, Mrs. Fields Cookies, had a fabulous recipe for chocolate chip cookies and sold her business for $3 million. She remains a spokesman for the company. Paula Deen and her sons turned a small catering outfit, The Bag Lady, into a restaurant, many cookbooks, kitchen utensils, and furniture empire that has turned into a network company.


Martha Stewart, a cook, entertainer, and decorator, made over $7 million in annual sales before being charged with insider trading and sentenced to jail time.


The hostesses served dessert at the conclusion of the meeting.
