Four new Arkansas State Troopers reported for duty Monday to Troop E Headquarters at Pine Bluff and will work with training officers for eight to 12 weeks before being released to solo patrol.

Four new Arkansas State Troopers reported for duty Monday to Troop E Headquarters at Pine Bluff and will work with training officers for eight to 12 weeks before being released to solo patrol.


Bryant L. Cooper, Andrew L. Pannell, Bob Love and Brandon K. Porter graduated from troop school Oct. 1, Troop E Commander Capt. David Sims said Monday.


"We’ve extremely excited about getting them," Sims said. "We look forward to them getting out on their own and helping relieve some of our manpower shortages."


Cooper, 31, originally from Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, is assigned to Arkansas County and will live in Stuttgart. He is married with two sons. Cooper served in the U.S. Army for 10 years and is currently in the National Guard.


Pannell, 31, of Dierks is assigned to Lincoln County and will live in Star City. He is married with two sons and before joining the state police, was a police officer at Beebe.


Porter, 23, of Pine Bluff is assigned to Jefferson County and will live in Pine Bluff. He graduated from Pine Bluff High School and serves in the National Guard. He formerly worked for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.


Love, 29, of Pine Bluff is assigned to Jefferson County and will live in Pine Bluff. He was born in Little Rock and moved to Pine Bluff at an early age. Before joining the state police, he worked for the Arkansas Department of Correction, where he was a lieutenant at the Randall Williams Unit at Pine Bluff.


Sims said the four new troopers will probably be released to solo highway patrol duties in mid-December.
