The Jefferson County Reading Council (JCRC) completed its community project once more by delivering 200 books to the Jefferson County Health Department Aug. 1.

The books are to be given out to students coming to the health department to get their immunizations in preparation for school, according to a news release.

Participants at the book presentation included registered nurses FaSeeia Preston and Patti Richmond along with JCRC President Roxanne Harper and JCRC Treasurer Susan Bitely.

“The two nurses present really appreciated it,” a spokeswoman said in the news release. “They try to make the experience as positive as possible for young children.”

“JCRC promotes and celebrates literacy in our community. Money for the books came from a grant from our state organization, Arkansas Literacy Association,” the spokeswoman said.
