Jefferson County farmers and landowners are urged to register their wells and re-lifts beginning Oct. 1. All water users are required by law to register each year, according to the Jefferson County Conservation District.

Registration for wells and re-lifts used in 2016 to divert water begins Oct. 1, 2016, and will continue through March 1, 2017, according to the conservation district. A fee of $10 per well or re-lift will be collected at the time of registration.

The Jefferson County Conservation District is located in room 2114 in the federal building, 100 E. Eighth Ave. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
