Anniversaries


Union Missionary Baptist Church, 609 E. 24th Ave., will begin the 38th anniversary of the pastor and wife, the Rev. Leroy Spears Jr. and Debra Spears, at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, with Friday night live. The guest speaker will be the Rev. R.D. Howard Sr. of Antioch Baptist Church at Dermott.


Almeta Missionary Baptist Church at Reedville will commemorate the 16th pastor’s anniversary for the Rev. Edward Demery and wife, Pamela Demery, at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2. The guest speaker will be the Rev. T.R. Ramey, pastor of St. John Missionary Baptist at Mitchelleville.


Grace & Mercy Missionary Baptist Church, 817 W. Sixth Ave., will host the third pastoral anniversary of the Rev. Joshua and Janelta Pickett at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Harold Shirlee of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.


New Jericho Missionary Baptist Church, 1600 Lindell St., will host the 10th anniversary of the pastor and wife, the Rev. Don Zell and Ardelia Jones, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2. The guest speaker will be the Rev. S.E. Shaw, pastor of New Faith Missionary Baptist Church.


Barnes Temple Church of God in Christ, 10301 Princeton Pike, will observe the 36th pastoral anniversary of Elder Willie J. Brown and Cakneller Brown at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2. The guest speaker will be Superintendent Joe L. Stocker, pastor of Main Street Church of God in Christ.


Smith Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 3006 Kentucky St., will observe its 141st anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Clark Thomas, pastor of New Salem Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill.


Ezekiel Missionary Baptist Church, 121 W. Martin St., will host the fifth pastoral anniversary of the Rev. Charles and Gwendolyn Rogers starting at 11 a.m. with Clifton R. White, associate minister at Ezekiel church, as the speaker. At 3 p.m., the guest speaker will be the Rev. George Barnes, pastor of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church. Guests also include Zion Family Church and Eternal Life Church of God in Christ.


Indiana Street Missionary Baptist Church, 1114 Indiana St., will celebrate its 127th anniversary at at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Lawrence Glover, pastor of First Missionary Baptist Church at Dermott.


New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 1317 Texas St., will observe its 116th anniversary Sunday, Oct. 2. At 11 a.m., the guest speaker will be LaDale Higgins of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. At 3 p.m., the featured speaker will be the Rev. LeArthur Shelton, pastor of Lampkin Chapel Baptist Church.


Watkin Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 800 S. Juniper St., will celebrate the 26th anniversary of the pastor and wife, the Rev. Kenneth E. Jones Sr. and Debra A. Jones, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, starting at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Kenneth W. Aden of Faith Spring Church at Little Rock as the guest speaker. At 3 p.m., the guest speaker will be the Rev. Darrell Martin, pastor of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer.


St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill will host the fifth appreciation of the pastor and wife, the Rev. Ramon and Wanda Hunter, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct 2. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Walter Witherspoon II, pastor of True Harvest Church, along with his congregation.


Concerts


Kings Highway Missionary Baptist Church, 2312 Fluker St., will present the 10th annual inspirational adult choir concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2.


Antioch Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill will host its annual choir concert at 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2.


The White Hall Community Center will host Raiment Ministries International’s presentation of the King Jesus Honor and Praise concert at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8. Admission is free.


Family Time Baptist Church and Ministries, 501 Ohio St., will host the Pine Bluff Quartet Local’s monthly union at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2. Guests will include the Union Choir, Men In Christ, Mighty True Lights and Spiritualettes.


Mt. Zion Baptist Church at Altheimer will host the musical benefit for Laverne Washington-Terry and Eddie Rasberry Jr. at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1. The Southeast Arkansas Community Mass Choir is the sponsor.


Traveler’s Rest Missionary Baptist Church at Grady will host its annual gospel fest from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, on the church grounds. The event will include health screenings and refreshments.


Men’s/Women’s services


Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 909 S. Wisconsin St., will sponsor its women’s day program at 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 2. The guest speaker will be Andrea Steward of Evangelist Temple at Little Rock.


Revivals


First Missionary Baptist Church, 4500 Faucett Road, will hold its fall revival at 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, Oct. 3-5. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Joshua Pickett, pastor of Grace & Mercy Missionary Baptist Church.

Traveler’s Rest Missionary Baptist Church at Grady will host its mid-week service at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Donyado Wallace, associate minister of Union Baptist Missionary Baptist Church at Dumas.


Union Baptist Church, 609 E. 24th Ave., will host its annual usher’s program at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Fred Johnson of New Hope Baptist Church at Altheimer.


Bright Star Missionary Baptist Church on U.S. 425 will celebrate its homecoming at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2. The Rev. Raeshawn Howard, pastor Antioch Missionary Baptist Church at Dermott, will be the guest speaker. Guests will also include the Rev. Steve Wright of St. John Missionary Baptist Church at Little Rock.


New Town Missionary Baptist Church, 3600 W. Second Ave., will host the Rev. Carl Gardner, associate minister of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer, as its guest speaker at 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 2.


Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church at Ladd will host its annual usher’s program at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2. The guest speaker will be the Rev. James Murry, pastor of Gospel Temple Missionary Baptist Church, accompanied by the Gospel Temple Drill Team.


Mt. Harmony Missionary Baptist Church, 812 E. Harding Ave., announces new worship times beginning Sunday, Oct. 2. Sunday School will start at 9 a.m. and worship at 10 a.m.


Victory Faith Church, 1517 S. Poplar St., will host its annual kingdom harvest camp meeting at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 2. The guest speaker will be the Rev. David Marks, pastor of Cherry Hill Missionary Baptist Church at Moscow.


New Hope Missionary Baptist Church at Moscow will present its men’s and women’s day at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Antonio Gayden, pastor of Union Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church.


Judah Restoration Worship Center, 2401 S. Main St., will host the ministry of Jerry Grillo Jr., founder and presiding bishop of the Favor Center Church at Hickory, N.C., and Charlotte/Gastonia, N.C., and founder and president of Fogzone Ministries, which is dedicated to bringing the message of restoration and recovery. Services will be held at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, and at 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 3-4.
