Showing their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Pine Bluff Fire and Emergency Services personnel on Friday donned pink tee shirts and posed for a group photo outside the main fire station at the Joe Thomas Public Safety Facility.
Chief Shauwn Howell said the idea of supporting breast cancer came about last year, but it was too late in the year for the department to organize an event.
“We wanted to do something and this was something a lot of the folks said they wanted to do,” Howell said.
He said that he has authorized pink as a color for firefighters through the end of October so they will be able to wear pink hats, pink wristbands or the shirts. Office and administrative personnel will wear the shirts on casual Friday. (Pine Bluff Commercial/Ray King)
