Bobby Mack Simpson Sr., 77, of Pine Bluff, passed away Wednesday October 4, 2017.

He was born December 25, 1939 in Pine Bluff to the late Tandy R. and Mae Simpson.

Bobby was reared and educated in Pine Bluff, graduating from Pine Bluff High School and attended Arkansas Tech.

Bobby served in the National Guard. He worked 45 years for the International Paper Mill, retiring in 2003.

Over the years he enjoyed, horse showing, coon hunting, family, friends, and the Razorbacks. He was a loving husband, dad, grandfather, and friend.

He was a member and deacon of Whispering Pines Cowboy Church of Pine Bluff.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patsy Long

Bobby is survived by his wife Judy of 58 years; sons, Mack Simpson Jr. and wife Darlene of Owasso, Okla., Mitch Simpson Sr. and wife Kathy of Tulsa, Okla.; granddaughter Tandy Watson and husband Zach of Sand Springs Okla., Courtney Drake and her sons, Carter, Curtis and Caleb; grandson, James M. Simpson Jr. of Tulsa, Okla.

Visitation will be from 5pm-7pm, Friday, October 6, 2017 at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Home.

Memorial Service will be 1pm, Saturday October 7, 2017 at Whispering Pines Cowboy Church of Pine Bluff.

Sammy Ashcraft

STAR CITY - Sammy K. Ashcraft, 64 of Star City, died Saturday at his home. He was born July 27, 1953 in Port Arthur, TX to the late Luther and Kitty Tucker Ashcraft. He was a retired police officer for the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Star City Police Department and was retired from the Arkansas Department of Corrections.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Weatherford Ashcraft; 3 sons, Nathan (Indra) Smith, Jason (Ashley) Smith and Randal Taylor; sister, Brenda (Ronnie) Hebert; and 2 nephews, Roy and David Hebert.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM Friday at Griffin Funeral Service Chapel with Bro. Wayne Edwards officiating.

Victoria Bolden

DUMAS - Mrs. Victoria Portis Bolden, 74 of Dumas passed Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Baptist Health Hospital in Little Rock, Ark. Mrs. Victoria Bolden was born on August 20, 1943, in Dumas, Ark. to the late Charles and Callie Portis. She was the third of the eight children born to this union. One sibling, Dorothy Portis, preceded her in death.

She graduated from Reed High School in 1961. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Arkansas AM&N College, which is now the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB). After graduation, she accepted a teaching position in the Dumas Public Schools, where she worked tirelessly for 33 years.

Victoria was a faithful member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church and remained there until her transition. As a member of St. John, Victoria served as an Usher, Youth Director, Sunday School Teacher, and Dean of Christian Education. She worked at the local, district, state, and national levels in Christian Education. At Watson District, she was the Associate Dean and Secretary of the Usher Federation. On the state level, Victoria was the registrar for the Regular Arkansas Baptist Congress and Assistant Secretary for the Women's Department. She was a registrar for the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. for many years.

She was a member of the Epsilon Zeta Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., where she served as Treasurer for a number of years. Additional memberships included the Order of the Eastern Star, Mt. Zion #75, Dumas Education Association, and the Arkansas Education Association.

Victoria leaves to celebrate her life and share her memory six siblings, Chezzie Thompson, Charles (Ruth) Portis, James (Clara) Portis, Betty (Joe) Lacy, Alice (Russell) Jones, Shirley Portis; (special sister) Bernestine (Alvie) Husky; God-sister Jeri Brewer; God-children Francis Ray and Carla Griswald; special nephew Kendrick Lewis; ten nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved: and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be 10am, Friday, October 6, 2017, at New St. Hurricane Missionary Baptist Church, by Dr. Timothy R. Ramey. Interment will be in Forrest Lawn Cemetery by Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff, AR.

Visitation was held 5:30-7:00pm Thursday, at Brown Funeral Home. Her body will lie in-state today, 9:15am, until service.

Edward Patillo

Edward William Patillo, 70, of Pine Bluff, Ark., departed this Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.

He was born September 13, 1947 to the late Clarence Patillo, Sr. and Annie B. (Fowlkes) Patillo.

He was reared in Pine Bluff and graduated from Townsend Park High School and AM&N College, currently the University of AR at Pine Bluff.

Edward served in the United States Army. He was a retired educator; having taught history and brick masonry.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Bernice Patillo-Pringles; brothers, Clarence R. Patillo, Jr. and Jerry C. Patillo.

He is survived by his son, Joseph Quinten Patillo; brothers, Johnny and Frank Patillo both of Pine Bluff, Ark; sisters, Mary Gatewood (George), Rosemary Sanders, Ella Whitmore (Ricky), B. Banita Perkins and LaJoyce Banks of Pine Bluff, Ark.;

Henry Watkins 

Henry June Watkins (Tate) was born November 4, 1942 to Essie Watkins and Freddie Mae Shorter Watkins.

He attended Towsend Park School and enlisted in the military in 1960. He was Honorably Discharged in 1965 with a number of recognitions of Honor.

He retired from the Pine Bluff Arsenal in 2004.

He loved working with wood, drawing, making grass art, writing songs, poems and playing a few instruments.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ulyssious and Lucy Steward; parents, Essie Watkins (father), Freddie Mae Brown (mother); Emmett Kirk, Sr. (brother); Jeraldine Turntine (sister) and Billy Ray McAfee (brother).

Cherishing his memory are uncle, aunts and a host of nephews, nieces, family and friends.

Eugene Miller

GREENWOOD, Ark. - After more than 90 years on this earth and more than 50 years in God's ministry, Eugene Miller, 90 of Greenwood, Ark. went home to be with his Lord he served, on Thursday, October 5, 2017 in Greenwood, Ark. During the 50 years of ministry, he pastored New Home and Cedar Branch out of Pine Bluff and Hensley Missionary Baptist Church in Hensley and loved the congregations in all of them. Before pastoring churches, he served his country in the United States Marines.

Eugene Miller was born March 17, 1927 in his parent’s home, George and Elizabeth Miller, near Palestine, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his two brothers, Joe Tom Miller and Robert Miller; and his two sisters, Gordia Lillian Miller and Georgia Vivian Sparkman, all of Athens, Texas. He was also preceded in death by his son, Glynn Miller of Hensley, Ark.

He is survived by his wife of more than 61 years, Charlene Moore Miller; daughter, Gena and her husband, Alan Anderson, all of Greenwood, Ark. His survivors also include two grandchildren, Stephanie Anderson Harrington and husband, Matthew Harrington of Frisco, Texas and Brent Anderson and wife, Jennifer Anderson of Lantana, Texas; and five great grandchildren, Lucas, Georgia Claire, and Stella Mae Harrington, Parker Cate and Sloane Ivey Anderson; and many more family and friends.

Sandra Littleton-McAllister

Mrs. Sandra Gail Littleton-McAllister, 54, of Pine Bluff, was called home, peacefully, to be with the Lord on Monday, October 2, 2017.

She was born August 27, 1963 in Parkdale, Ark. to Eugene Littleton and the late Susie Mae Liggins.

Sandra received her education at Parkdale High School, in the year 1981, in Parkdale, Ark., and was a respected alumnus at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff with a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing in the year of 1990. She had a rewarding career at Jefferson Regional Medical Center as a Registered Nurse for 26 years.

She was a faithful member of Mt. Pleasant A.M.E. Church until her passing.

She is preceded in death her mother, Susie M. Liggins; Daughters, Ashlee and RoShunda; Grandparents, Egar and Inez Morris and Joseph and Bernice Littleton.

Survivors include one son: Quanterrio S. Littleton of Pine Bluff, Ark.; one daughter, Faythe E. McAllister of Pine Bluff, Ark.; Father, Eugene (Doris) Littleton; four grandchildren; Brothers: James (Angela) Morris of Canton, Miss, and Charil (Jacqueline) Morris of Little Rock, Ark.; Sisters, Debbie Littleton of Columbus, Ga., Marsha Claiborne of Oklahoma City, Okla., Vickie (Lee) Ferrell and Constance Littleton of Oklahoma City, Okla. and a host of family and friends.

Saniya Humphrey

Bryant-Ms. Saniya Elize Humphrey, 10, of Bryant, Ark., passed Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Arkansas Children's Hospital.

Saniya is survived by her mother, Stacy Humphrey-Howard; father, Keon Eve; Siblings, Stacia, R.J., and Faith; Grandmother, Ms.Yvonne Humphrey; Great Grandmother, Mrs. Myrtle Earnest; Aunt, April Humphrey; Uncle, Corey Humphrey; Godmother, LaShaundra Combs; Godfather, Khemet Bakari; Godsisters, Poetry, Brishira, and Tishauna.

Saniya was an active member of New Town Baptist Church in Pine Bluff. As a member of the Lil Angels of Praise Dance Team, the youth choir and Sunday school, she enjoyed participating in youth ministry activities. She served as an officer in the Young People's division of the Regular Arkansas Baptist Convention.

Saniya was a participant in the Little TOPPS summer program and an avid gymnastic student at Flip Flop Gymnastic.

Saniya completed 4th grade at Broadmoor Elementary in Pine Bluff. She and her family recently moved to Bryant, Ark. where she was a 5th grader at Hill Farm Elementary school.

A celebration of Saniya's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 7 at TOPPS Big Rec Teen Center at 1000 Townsend Drive, Pine Bluff, AR.

Lawrence Davis

The sun rose in St. Vincent and The Grenadines on September 28, 1939 bringing a new day and a new life. Lawrence was born to Carlton Brown and Ellen Bacchus.

His formative childhood was spent in St. Vincent and The Grenadines where he attended public school and church. Throughout his life he worked, traveled and brought joy to anyone he encountered. On September 23, 2017, The Lord called him home to paradise.

To cherish his memories, he leaves wife, Betty J.
