Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. members will present a Girl Talk/Empowerment Workshop at the Ivy Center for Education Inc. from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17.

The session will be held at Faith Presbyterian Church, 913 University Drive. Girls 7th through 12th grades are encouraged to attend. Parents are always invited.

The presenters will be Michaela Howard, Commeka Goodloe and Lavatia Wooten, all graduates of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and tri-chairmen for the 2017 AKA Debutante Cotillion.

“All three young women are great role models for young ladies in the community,” an Ivy Center spokesman said in a news release.

Topics to be discussed include: Appropriate Use of Social Media; Stay Awake: Keeping Up With Current Events As They Relate To People of Color; Bullying; Promoting High Self Esteem Increases GPA and Test Scores; Goal Setting and The Best Careers for the 21st Century.
