MONTICELLO — An exhibition of paintings by Rick Sikes, director of The Downtown Gallery at Monroe, Louisiana, will be on display through Friday, Nov. 17, in the Glassblock Gallery of the Taylor Library and Technology Center at the University of Arkansas at Monticello.

“Sikes’ portrait paintings focus on studies of specific individuals revealing unique features and characteristics of that person’s individual identity,” according to a news release. “He uses a variety of painting methods and techniques to create images that compliment an exaggerated aesthetic of the individual.”

Sikes is enrolled in the master of fine arts program in studio art at Louisiana Tech. He is a conservator and preparator at the Masur Museum in Monroe and has experience in children’s book illustration and art instruction.

He has displayed his work in numerous exhibitions and was recently featured in Bayou Life Magazine. His portfolio may be viewed at
