The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Department of Nursing will host its second annual White Coat Ceremony at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24.
The event will be held in the J.M. Ross auditorium of the Hathaway-Howard Fine Arts building.
Twenty-three junior nursing students will be presented with their white coats indicating they have progressed in the program and are ready to be accepted into clinical practice.
The ceremony is sponsored by CHI-St. Vincent Infirmary and the speaker will be Nancy Brown, chief nursing officer for the hospital.
Brown joined CHI St. Vincent after a long career as the chief nursing officer at Norman Regional Health System in Norman, Oklahoma, where she served since 2004.
According to a news release, Brown provided oversight for system quality functions demonstrating marked improvement in quality, safety and patient experience measures at Norman.
“Brown was also integral in the transition of Moore Medical Center (part of NRHS) after it was destroyed in May 2013 by a F5 Tornado,” according to the release.
A 1979 UAPB alumna, she was also the vice president of Patient Care Services from 1995-2003 in Pine Bluff.
