The District Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Friendship Missionary Baptist Association of Southeast Arkansas met Oct. 12 at Bethel #2 Missionary Baptist Church of Herbine. Thirty two participants and guests attended, according to a news release.

With President Sandra Crofford of Southside Missionary Baptist Church of Star City presiding, the session opened with congregational singing of “Power in the Blood,” after which Mary Richardson of the host church welcomed everyone. A response was given by Barbara Brown of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church at Palmyra.

The offering goal for January was chosen as funds to aid in rebuilding the churches of the local association connected with Lighthouse Baptist Church of Houston, Texas, according to the release.

Officers elected for 2018 are: President — Sandra Crofford; Vice President — Barbara Brown; Secretary-Treasurer — Donna Collins; Assistant Secretary-Treasurer — Mary Kay Norris; Reporter: Mildred Carter.

Following an offering for Anthony Phillips, missionary to France, Bethel #2 presented a skit that emphasized reasons for auxiliary attendance and a lack thereof, according to the release.

Mildred Carter presented a special in song, “Redeemer,” that preceded the speaker’s presentation of a report on state missions and a devotional. These were by James Calhoun, treasurer of State Missions and director of Arkansas State Missions Project.

A closing prayer and blessing on the noon meal served by the host church was offered by Julius Carter. The Jan. 11, 2018, meeting will be with Calvary Missionary Baptist Church of Dumas.
