With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, shops across the city are busy preparing for a day of love. Stacked high with heart-adorned cards, boxes of chocolate, bouquets of red roses and teddy bears wearing t-shirts emblazoned with cutesy messages, businesses are ready to serve customers buying gifts for their loved ones this Wednesday.

In preparation for Valentine’s Day, Sissy’s Log Cabin has designed and created a special Valentine’s collection at their Pine Bluff location, which is the only Sissy’s site that has a gift shop included. Special offers are available for the day of love with prices ranging from $1 and up.

Some items included in the collection are black diamond jewelry, heart diamond jewelry, Lagos bracelets, purses, glass art and dangling earrings.

“Women love dangling earrings, and they are very sexy to wear for Valentine’s Day,” said Bill Jones, President of Sissy’s Log Cabin.

The hottest Valentine’s Day items at Sissy’s are the famous gold roses.

Pre-arranging and pre-packaging has been the main focus for Wow! Wallace Flowers and Gifts.

“Being able to have things on hand is important, so when someone says they need something, we can have it ready so they can get it and go instead of having to wait to have things prepared,” said owner Timothy Wallace.

He said that Valentine’s Day is the next busiest holiday after Mother’s Day.

“Everyone has a mother, but not everyone has a significant other,” said Wallace. He said that roses are the hottest V-Day item, with balloons being second due to them being inexpensive and big.

Keepsakes Jewelry in White Hall has restocked since Christmas in preparation for Valentine’s Day. They have some special offers available for the day of love, with watches being 25 percent off. They are collaborating with James Hayes on art glass for V-Day. They also have roses, hearts, bows, etc.

“Pandora has lots of hearts for bracelets,” said Jane Judkins, owner of Keepsakes.

Shepherd/Tipton Hurst Florist and Greenhouse is working ahead getting roses prepared and getting arrangements started with the delivery system. The hottest item at this location is the rose.

Harbor Oaks Golf Club and Restaurant is having a Valentine’s Day dinner from 5:30-8:30 p.m for those who want to celebrate with food.

“Several specials will be offered on ribs, steak and fillets,” said Mike Wilson, owner of Harbor Oaks.

The restaurant will have a romantic setting with love-inspired tablecloths, roses on the table, etc.
