The Jefferson County Retired Teachers Association will host its annual Wheirda M. Bentley Health Program at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 15, at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Services Center, 211 W. Third Ave.
The guest speaker for the luncheon meeting will be Donna Taylor, RN, an outreach medical facilitator for the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences South Central Center on Aging at White Hall.
“Retirees are encouraged to utilize this facility particularly if they have major concerns regarding health maladies and the aging process,” a spokesman said in a news release.
The coordinator of the JCRTA Health Program is Mary Whiteaker. Hosts will be the health care committee of JCRTA with the theme of “Get Up and Go.”
Healthcare materials from UAMS will be available. Also, other materials will be provided by Jefferson County Extension Agent Mary Ann Kizer. The materials include identifying fats in ordinary foods and upcoming cooperative extension programs.
“Retirees can avail themselves of such items as AR Healthy Life—lifestyles involving food and exercise, nutrition, wellness ambassadors and Mediterranean cooking,” the spokesman said.
