The Kiwanis Club of Pine Bluff and area Key Clubs are joining with the Super 1 Foods stores at 28th Avenue and Hazel Street and 5805 Dollarway Road to host the third annual Mother’s Day Baby Shower Drive.

The campaign will collect baby care items from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 12, the day before Mother’s Day, May 13.

The effort will benefit the Hope Women’s Resource Center, an agency that helps mothers and babies in need, according to a news release.

Kiwanians and Key Club members, along with volunteers from the Hope Center, will staff collection tables at the stores.

According to a news release, the Hope Center has a critical need for new items for babies of the families it serves.

“Many times, the agency has no specific funding for items that will help the mothers take proper care of their babies, such as diapers, baby wipes/refills, rubber pants, baby bottles, formula, baby food, baby bath/wash, baby lotion, baby oil/ointment, baby shampoo/soap, baby mirrors, rattles, baby mobiles and any baby care items,” according to the release.

Kiwanians urge Pine Bluff area residents to come to either of the Super 1 Foods stores and buy items to donate to the effort or to drop off cash donations. Kiwanians and Hope Center representatives at the stores will have information about the Hope Center.

Meeting the needs of young children has long been the priority of Kiwanis clubs worldwide, according to the release.
